The first women's coffee from the RAEK cooperative in Congo is finally here! This coffee is a blend of all the coffees produced by the 110 women of the RAEK cooperative. With taste notes of chocolate, caramel and black tea this is an excellent coffee you have to taste for yourself.

The coffee is produced in the villages of Katana and Kavumu .

About RAEK:

RAEK was founded in 1996 with a clear goal in mind. The cooperative aimed to create an economic alternative for the residents of this region in the Congo, which is marked by violence and extreme poverty. The cooperative aimed to ensure that people had enough to eat and that women and men were treated equally by launching a coffee project that would provide financial stability.

The situation in South Kivu is alarming. In addition to historical territorial conflicts between various tribes, which have led many people to be displaced, families torn apart, and women raped, this region is also repeatedly struck by natural disasters.

The Situation Right Now:

Currently, there is war in the region between the M23 rebels and the Congolese government. As a result, coffee producers have fled to the cities in hopes of finding more security. In the village of Katana, many people have already fallen victim to the current war and have lost their lives.

The banks in the entire region have decided that they no longer care about the people. What else can you expect from banks? They have closed all their branches, and people no longer have access to their money. I have already sent money to help them via Western Union, so they can ensure that they and their families can get by a little better in this difficult time. For every kilo of coffee I sell, I send them an additional 2€ via Western Union.

So, helping is as simple as buying a pack of really good coffee!
