Finally, a couple years ago, Stean's Beans (a Kenyan living in the Netherlands) acquired an export license. His mission is to open up the possibility for farmers to sell their coffees directly to coffee roasters and thus secure a fair compensation for their work. With this export license it is possible now to circumvent the auction system completely.

Sakami the most environment friendly coffee farm in Kenya is owned and operated by Gloria and her Finnish husband Mann Jarmo, whom I've both met last year in Milan. They use the principles of permaculture and power their depulper solely with solar energy.Furthermore, they help they have neighbors, to receive better prices for their coffee and produce higher quality beans.
